Letter of Appreciation
Prompt: Write a letter of appreciation to someone in your neighborhood you don’t know particularly well.
Dear Dude Running the Jackhammer at Eight O’clock in the Morning,
Much appreciation for your outerworldly ability to smash through concrete in an efficient manner. I felt your ability to transform the tat-tat-tat at high volume into a consistent hum that resembles white noise is admirable. I hope you were able to achieve optimum destruction with minimal dust or fine air particles. I hope you are wearing both mask and ear plugs. Fear not, you were not so loud that I needed ear plugs. In fact, I was able to do my fifteen minutes of Duo Lingo quite successfully. I even got double xp. I’m sure other neighbors might complain and people will walk their dogs on the other side of the street, but I sincerely hope you accomplish what you set out to do and that you get a nice break after all the tattering. Hopefully, that break will come at nine o’clock. Hopefully, that break will only be followed by some whacking with a mallot and the sound of wood being torn away. Hopefully, all of that will be followed by a lunch break at noon. That will be when I walk the dog who is currently hiding in the bathroom. During his walk, he will probably want to pee on the pile of rubble. That is his nature. He means no offense.
